(The Debate about Globalization)

q1. The WTO, World Trade Organization, is a powerful international body whose decisions effects, or have affected, every country. Its functions is making rules and regulations for international trade and helps making it easier by reducing restrictions.

q2. i think what "global village" means is how our world today is becoming a small place where every one from any spot on earth could communicate or make businesses with others who are on the other side of the world, just like how it was done in villages in the old days.

q3. because from my point of view, i see that our world today is becoming smaller and smaller every day, everyone knows what's going on in other countries, cities, and even villages, through technological advancements such as the media, internet...

q4. globalization has made some massive changes that have heavily impacted the world. it has made some positive changes such as making the world's economy stronger, lin
ked different parts of the world together, which makes it easier to conduct business and target a wider range of costumers all over the world. on the other hand, it had also resulted in some negative consequences in cultures, increased poverty in many societies, and also damages many environmental factors.

q7. trade was practiced among nations since the first century.

q8. in the past, trading was practiced among certain individuals who traveled from a place to another trading goods, (spices, clothes...) and even slaves were traded too.

q9. Britain was the first country who spread-headed the first industrial revolution during the nineteenth century.

q10. Industrial Revolution is the rapid development of industry that brought the introduction of machinery.

q11. during the pre-industrial revolution, states had control over the economy, unlike during the industrial revolution, businesses were left free to make their own decisions and compete with one another.

q12. the economic system of capitalism is founded on having individuals and businesses following their self-interests rather than, basically caring for others.

q13. they made regulation to protect workers and their families from abuse.

q14. free trade and protectionism is when a country tries to protect its local industries by charging tariffs on imported goods to eliminate competitors.

q15. the state added to its functions, providing welfare payments for the unemployed, sick and old and, in some places, running socially important industries such as the water supply and railroads.

q16. the trend that started during the 1980's was privatization of state owned industries.
